Cooking Class - June 17, 2009

If your weren’t at the Mansion’s cooking class this past Wednesday, June 17th you missed out on a lot of fun! This particular cooking class was themed around delectable Italian cuisine which drew in quite a crowd of both new and familiar faces. We cheerfully welcomed all of our guests into our new Windsor Ballroom to learn how to make a handful of Italian delights including Sicilian Orange Salad and Tuscan Prawns. Everyone there appeared to deeply enjoy the foods we all created with our fresh summer products, and not to mention the wine! After listening to everyone’s enthusiastic commentary I believe the class favorite was the chicken. However I did take notice that most of the jumbo shrimp was gone too! Our watermelon risotto wasn’t as successful as our other dishes but we had a great time getting our imaginations going. We combined the Sicilian Orange Salad with onion to make a remarkably savory combination. While we learned and sampled together Rick, once again, had the wine flowing for us to pair and enjoy.

It was incredible to see everyone having a great time mingling and making new friends throughout the event. Next class will be on July 15th, which I hope will be delightfully sunny evening. This time around Rick will be bringing an assortment of refreshing beers from around the world and I will be trying not to set the house on fire since we will be learning how to make a gourmet barbeque.

So make your reservations now (856-751-1717) and I will see you there at 6:30 PM on the dot ready and willing to learn the finest ways to grill steak, fish, and vegetables. We’ll even learn some savory summer sauces, so let’s get the summer rolling together!

Thank you again for all your feedback and comments! It is so refreshing and fun for me to see people of all ages participating, asking questions and giving feedback.

Remember to have fun and enjoy cooking. It does not have to be a chore or job at home. It can be your favorite time of the day, when friends and family get together to share their favorite flavors. Remember that it is not the presentation that truly counts; it is the flavor, “your” flavor that makes it your cooking, and puts that smile on others faces.
